Media endpoints let you save pictures and recording files from visual support sessions. SightCall supports email, HTTPS, Amazon S3 buckets, SFTP, Microsoft Azure, and Google Drive media endpoints.
This article explains how to set up email as a media endpoint. Email media endpoints can only be used for picture files and not for recording files.
Email attachment and file size
An email endpoint is useful for smaller-sized attachments. If an agent only saves two or three images from a session, then email might be a good option. You can select pictures to be sent in a compressed Tar file (Tar files option) or you can send one email per picture (Attachment option).
*Note: Email accounts may have size limits on attachments and/or the overall account storage. If agents end up saving a lot of pictures from sessions, consider using another media endpoint type such as Google Drive.

To configure email as a media endpoint, you will need:

Configuring a media endpoint
To configure an email endpoint:
- Sign on to the admin portal.
- Click on Media Endpoints from the Tenant section of the navigation menu.
- Select +Add End-Point to open the Media Endpoints page.
- Enter a Name and select Email from the Type drop-down.
- Choose how files will be delivered:
- Select Tar files > Yes for images to be compressed into a Tar file and emailed (removes Attachment option).
- Select Tar files > No and check Attachment to have each saved picture sent as an email attachment (one picture per email).
- Select Tar files > No and uncheck Attachment to have saved pictures emailed as attachments (more than one picture per email).
- Complete the email form fields:
- Enter an identifier that will be used in the From field for emails sent from this media endpoint.
- Enter an email address to send the emails To. To use an agent’s email address, select Variables > Agent email to insert the ${agent_email} variable in the To:
- Enter a Subject. Use the Variables drop-down to insert session information in the email’s subject.
- Update the Body: message, if desired. You can use the Variables buttons under the Body field to insert session information.
- Optional: Select Pictures during a call tab and choose use cases to associate with this media endpoint.
- Select Submit to save the media endpoint.
